Shannon Walters graduated from Algonquin College with her Advanced Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2017. Since then she has gained experience working in general practice, community health, long term care and hospital settings. She currently practices at the Civic Hospital Dental Clinic and St. Mary’s Dental Clinic for homeless young mothers, and she serves on the Algonquin College Dental Advisory Committee.
Course description:
On March 19th Shannon will be speaking to ODHS members about providing dental hygiene care to individuals who are severely medically compromised, with a focus on long term care and palliative care settings. Be prepared to learn what dental hygienists can do to maintain comfort and improve oral health for clients who can no longer brush and floss on their own
